Servientrega is one of the largest logistics and courier companies in Colombia and the region, with operations in Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, and the United States. Each year, its network handles a significant portion of the 51 to 61 million cash-on-delivery orders generated in the country—a model where the exact moment of delivery defines the efficiency of the entire logistics operation. For a company of this scale, any friction in the final payment translates into large-scale reprocessing, administrative costs, and lost operational time.
Cash-on-delivery is, by nature, the most fragile point of the last mile. It depends on the recipient having cash on hand, the courier safely carrying and managing that money, and the operation manually reconciling each delivery against the central accounting system. When any of these elements fail, the delivery is not completed on the first attempt, and the order returns to the operational cycle, creating reprocessing, temporary storage needs, and an administrative burden that grows alongside volume.
For an operation the size of Servientrega, solving this friction with a single payment alternative was not viable: the recipient needed to be able to pay with the wallet or bank they already use, without the company losing visibility or control over collections. The challenge was not simply to digitize the payment, but to make it interoperable, instant, and traceable, without altering the workflow already followed by thousands of couriers in the field.
The specific limitations of the previous model included:
Cobre integrated Bre-B, Colombia's interoperable instant payment network, directly into Servientrega's delivery flow via API, without modifying the process couriers already follow in the field. At the moment of delivery, a QR code is generated from the Cobre platform; the recipient scans it using their bank app, Nequi, Daviplata, or any wallet enabled with Bre-B, and the payment is confirmed in seconds.
Cobre acts as an orchestration layer between Servientrega and the financial ecosystem: it receives payment confirmation, automatically reconciles it against the corresponding order, and reflects it in real-time on a centralized dashboard. This solves the root problem because it does not replace any other payment method the recipient already prefers; it simply adds an instant digital alternative that reduces cash dependency without additional operational friction.
"Bre-B through Cobre allowed us to bring digital payment to the exact moment of delivery. Today, our Solution Experts manage to close more deliveries on the first attempt, with immediate payment confirmation and real-time traceability. This directly impacts our logistics efficiency and customer experience, optimizing times and improving the effective delivery rate."
— Luz Mary Guerrero Hernández, Board Member of Servientrega
We are proud that Servientrega has found in our infrastructure the solution to modernize one of the most complex logistics processes in Colombia. This case validates that Bre-B's interoperability is no longer just an advantage for consumers, but a critical operational tool for companies that move millions of packages every month.
— José Vicente Gedeón, CEO and co-founder of Cobre
It is a way to complete cash-on-delivery payments without relying on physical cash: the recipient scans a QR code at the time of delivery and pays from their bank or digital wallet, without the company having to replace any other available payment method.
Bre-B is Colombia's interoperable instant payment network: it connects banks and digital wallets so that anyone can pay or receive money in seconds, regardless of which institution holds their account.
Any company with last-mile operations or point-of-delivery collection, logistics, e-commerce, insurance, or home services can integrate this model to reduce their reliance on cash and streamline the reconciliation of their collections.
Integration is performed via API and does not require modifying field team workflows. Cobre handles payment orchestration, reconciliation, and real-time data availability.
